What’s in it for Me
(Community Care)
It is highly likely that 7 Day mixed medication blister packs are used in the Community. In the past these may have been switched from cassettes for Health and Safety reasons. There is no doubt that blisters are the better option especially with the retention of MIXED medication started by cassettes. However we must question the need for 7 Day issues now that 28 Day Blisters are on offer.
The Omedos Organiser uses existing blister packs from major suppliers such as Venalink and MTS which are widely used in Care Homes. They may appear in a number of different pharmacy group liveries. The difference is that separate blister packs are used for each DOSE TIME with MIXED MEDICATION. They are then locked together with paperwork at the pharmacy, onto a base plate forming a single patient unit. The pack is secure and may contain MAR cards.
